Debbi's Poetry

My dad's wife is an AMAZING poet. Such a spiritual and wonderful woman! She made copies of all her poems for me and I want to share a few with all of you:

A Mother's Morning Prayer
My Dearest Heavenly Father, sincerely I pray
To have Thy spirit with me throughout the coming day
Please bless me to hold within my heart, a song and silent prayer
And upon my weary face, please help me keep a smile there
Please grant me patience, and help me be aware
Of the needs of Thy children Thou hast placed in my care
Enrich me with the gift of a gently pleasant voice
Let the Holy Ghost guide me with each perplexing choice
When the children need me, when upon my tired arms they tug
Urge me to look in their trusting eyes; and share a loving hug
May I delight in my children, feel of their pleasure and cheer
Prompt me to hold them often, and offer a listening ear
When the children misbehave or make messes everywhere
Help me be creative and calm, kind and clever and fair
Please know Dear Father I love my children so much
I truly am grateful for each kiss, hug and touch
We are striving for joy, a Family Forever to be
Please help me righteously lead Thy precious children to Thee

Dear Mommy
Dear Mommy cuddle me in your arms
I'll delight you with my childhood charms
Being my mommy must be rather tough
Sometimes you may think, "Enough is Enough!"
We struggle with problems, chaos and more
But learning from these is what life is for
Realize Dear Mommy through all the mundane
You're serving the Lord, and blessings you will gain
Dear Mommy, please pray to our Father above
To know how to raise me with kindness and love
Teach me to study the Word of God
And help me grasp the iron Rod
Please teach me the truth and show me the way
Teach me to love, to serve, and obey
Teach me the power of prayer from your knees
And often bear testimony to me
Then when I grow up and go out on my own
I'll never forget the safe haven called home
I'll have self-esteem and joy like no other
And grateful I'll be to my loving mother

A Glimpse of Motherhood
The big kids are fighting; the baby is screaming.
The juice has been spilled, and you hope you're just dreaming.
But NO! You're awake - as awake as can be,
Since you stayed up with the baby 'til quarter past three.
Then you step in some goo, but it sure wasn't juice!
No doubt about it - Baby's on the loose!
It's time to make oatmeal. Get the water and boil it.
Where's Baby now? He's splashing in the toilet!
The chaos! The noise! Your life sure isn't boring.
And all of this happened by nine in the morning!
Dirty diapers, dirty dishes, and of course dirty clothes
May seem overwhelming, don't you suppose?
But don't forget dirty faces, bathrooms, and floors.
It's enough to drive mothers right out of the door!
You really know joy; you experience sorrow
And sometimes you wish you could just skip tomorrow!
Some days are great and you feel like a winner
Some days you wonder if you'll make it 'til dinner
Raising kids is quite hard, but it's still no surprise
That the stress melts away in their bright smiling eyes
You help build self-esteem, you show them the way
To live righteously, to serve and obey.
You teach each little one the importance of love
"Love yourself, love others, love your Father above"
They know the Lord loves them. You've taught them from birth
The Lord trusted you when He sent them to Earth
You probably know your children will grow
Faster than your fragile heart cares to know
When your precious angels are asleep for the night
You gaze at their faces; Your heart melts at the sight
Then you know what you're doing is all worth your while
But it means even more in the heart of your child.

Debbi is an amazing woman, and has been such a wonderful blessing to our family. She is scheduled to have open heart surgery on Wednesday, the 8th. Please keep her in your prayers!
